Cookies

Mmm... cookies!

Boo helped me make several batches of cookies and candy over the last few days. We tried some new recipes (Peanut Butter Blossoms and Divinity) as well as some traditional family favorites (Snickerdoodles, Christmas Tress "Spritz", and Mom's Blue Ribbon Fudge). Some didn't go so well. (Divinity shouldn't be rock hard, right?) Some baked slightly longer than they should have. (But Stinky likes crunchy Snickerdoodles, anyways.) The rest came out great! Santa's belly should be very full and happy.

Amazingly, these little Christmas Tree "Spritz" cookies are disappearing the fastest. They are really simple to make, but you have to have a cookie press to get that extra-special shape. This year Boo has been calling them "Shrek Trees". That probably has something to do with the fact that we were watching "Shrek the Halls" while we made them. Anyhoo... they are really light, sweet, and buttery. They are really good with coffee. And we will probably have to make another batch by the end of the week so that we can share with family!

So, um, I'd totally love your recipe for the Christmas tree cookies! I even have a cookie press.

If I get efficient, we'll make gingerbread cookies this week. Hah. I dream big like that.

I have two batches of cookie dough, sitting in the fridge, waiting to be rolled and pressed and baked. Including my Grandma's Spritz cookies. Can't wait to bake them. Love me some Spritz cookies!

Thanks for visiting and for leaving a comment! I'll totally check out that brownie pan - is it the one that's shaped to make more "edges/corners"? I've seen it on other foodie blogs. I'm partial to the center pieces:)

These look so good! Sorry about your Divinity, but looks like there are plenty of others to choose from. :)

I tried to make fudge. I swear I followed the directions entirely. I left the candy thermometer in to make sure it cooled properly. The "fudge" was so hard when it hit the magic temp., the tip of termometer broke off. It was so sad, I went to Ray's and bought fudge.

Dear Chubby Mommy, I think you tried too hard. My fudge recipe doesn't require a candy thermometer, and when my mom entered it in the State Fair the recipe won a blue ribbon. No joke.

Maybe we can meet for coffee some time, and I can share it with you! :)
