I didn't go wakeboarding this weekend. Don't get me wrong... I tried. But through a nasty combination of age and total lack of athleticism I never quite made it fully out of the water and vertical.

Anyways... it was fun to try something new. And it was a blast to hang out at the lake, ride on the new boat, and soak up some sun. Our kids were elsewhere so we got to play with the nephews for a change. They showed me their tree fort, helped me with word search puzzles, took me on walks, and taught me how to play "Aggravation". They loved playing with Divot, taking her out to swim, and throwing a football for her to chase into the water. On the lake we watched them wakeboard, while others waterskiied and wake surfed. Scott tried the wake surfing too, and was up on his first try. It looked like fun but I was worn out from all my previous efforts with the wakeboard. (Not really, but it sounds good right?)

Pepe's

We went to Pepe's for dinner tonight. When I expressed my sadness that they were closing to Pepe's daughter (the owner) tonight, her jaw dropped.

Pepe's in Bend is not closing. At least, not yet. She said they have considered a change, but nothing is a "done deal". We had a wonderful dinner there tonight - great food and friendly service as always.

I know not all Bendites feel the same way about Pepe's, but many of you do. Please show your support to this great family restaurant, and help convince them that Bend wants them to stay!

Nuts

Nuts... in my beer. When did my glass become a target? Last night, that's when.

Reed Pub has a nummy oatmeal stout on tap right now. Which means that right now Reed Pub is one of my favorite places. Last night the String Rats played there so of course we had to go support Elise, and meet up with several friends (Missy-plus-one, Kate-plus-one, Shannon-plus-one, Deanna)... and our next-door neighbor friends were there as well. Before the show we had a delicious (and very filling) dinner with Missy & Co so we didn't really need any food but our table had a bowl of peanuts for snacking. And some time during the latter part of the first set Scott shot a peanut into my beer.

I fished it out. Had we not been in a public place I probably would have chucked it at him. Mr. LT thought that was one of the funniest things he had seen in a long time, so eventually he shot a peanut into my beer, too. Yeah, you guys are just hilarious. In the interest of full disclosure no, I was probably not completely innocent and did some flinging of my own... but not in the direction of anyone's drink. That's just wrong.

The show was great! The Pub isn't the greatest music venue in town - it's kind of a cave. Usually they have hard rock or heavy metal and it's so loud that you can't talk with friends, and it's tough to enjoy. I think the 'Rats were a better fit because they still sounded good but didn't blast the place wide open. Ya know?

They have two shows coming up next month - at Winestyles on April 11th and downtown at 28, April 19th. Hope to see you there!

Abyss

The Safeway at 3rd and Franklin had the Abyss today, so if you are still looking that would be a good start. I picked up a few bottles - at $9.50 each this is something that I will save for a special occasion to savor!

As long as I'm on the subject of beer... Scott's first batch was ready for tasting last week. It's a little flat but otherwise very good. Brewing is quite an adventure and a lot of work - but I think he had a good time with it and is looking forward to starting another batch soon.

Don't forget to stop by the library book sale today, anytime before 4pm! The girls and I escaped with a large box of mostly kids' titles for ten bucks.
